If that's the case, then the only possible message is that the GOP has no policy. Which is not surprising. The GOP thinks the current health care system is just fine, but dimly perceives that saying so is impolitic. Republicans therefore want to devise a politically acceptable way to oppose whatever reforms Democrats propose. That's actually a formidable undertaking. A single-payer system is the only cure, but Democrats are afraid to take it. Instead, they favor subsidizing insurance companies, an approach not that much different from Richard Nixon's. Therefore, the GOP task force's mission is actually finding a politically acceptable way to tar Richard Nixon as a pinko. That should be entertaining. Health care reform is not optional, and the mismash stew that was the result of the Senate gang of three's involvement is not going to get it done.
