DENVER — I know, I know, I know: tomorrow night’s theme is national security. But it’s still kind of surprising that the schedule for tonight — theme: Restoring America’s Promise — soft-pedals the issue of the war. I see retired Rear Adm. John Hutson — a leading figure in the fight against torture — is going to speak, but he’s probably going to address the (worthy) theme of torture, rather than Iraq specifically. What’s the argument against reinforcing the theme that the Democrats are the party of ending the war responsibly and the Republicans are the party of prolonging the war indefinitely? Just saying.
