New at TWI: Clinton Supporter Smells Doom

TWI politics reporter Sridhar Pappu spent yesterday morning with Lynn Forester de Rothschild to get the long-time Democratic donor and ardent Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton supporter’s take on the convention and her party’s chances in the Fall. Miffed by Obama’s decision to forego Clinton as a running-mate, here’s what she had to say:

“It feels like this is the last big party before a general election that the Democrats are sure to lose,” said de Rothschild, who was wearing a button honoring Stephanie Tubbs Jones, the late Ohio congresswoman, and fervent Clinton supporter, who died last week from a brain aneurysm. “It’s the political equivalent of re-arranging the chairs on the deck of the Titanic. It feels like that because of the polls. The pick of Joe Biden telescoped that Barack Obama knows his weaknesses. He doesn’t have experience in foreign policy and he does not connect well to ordinary people, and Joe Biden doesn’t fix that. He just magnifies the problem. He’s a fine guy. I want him to go back to the Senate.”

In case you thought all amends have been made, think again. Full story is up here.

Well, thank goodness Ms. Forester de Rothschild has her priorities in order! What a relief. Silly me: I thought this election was about bring much-needed progressive change to America… health care for all… a rational foreign policy… better schools… a new energy policy and more public transportation. I also thought perhaps the 2008 election might be about maintaining reproductive rights for women, ending torture and illegal wiretapping — and more. Of course, I was wrong. The 2008 election is all about Ms. Forrester de Rothschild and her need to conduct her therapy sessions in pubic. In short, it is all about HER; the public and America be damned. Oh, by the way: I was undecided for the longest time during the primary season, but ended up supporting Obama. I can assure you, though, that I would enthusiastically support Hillary Clinton had she won the race.
