The RSC on Daschle
Tuesday, February 03, 2009 at 2:14 pm
Rep. Tom Price (R-Ga.), who heads the conservative Republican Study Committee in the House, spots an opportunity to attack Democrats on former Health and Human Services nominee, Tom Daschle.
Today’s action provides a glimmer of hope for patient-centered health care in America. While the fact that he failed to pay his taxes is completely unacceptable, the greater danger of Mr. Daschle’s nomination was his intent to create a national government-run health care system that would threaten the ability of patients and doctors to make independent medical decisions. I call on President Obama to exercise greater deliberation in choosing his next nominee for this critical post. It is essential that the next Secretary of Health and Human Services holds a meaningful respect for personal, private, quality health care.
I’m sure this was a fun press release to write, but Democrats, like most mammals, don’t react well to salt poured on their wounds.
