DeMint on GOP Stimulus Opposition: ‘That’s the Leadership We Need’
Tuesday, January 27, 2009 at 1:32 pm
Sen. Jim DeMint (R-S.C.) just wrapped a presentation at the Heritage Foundation about how he expected conservative media to attempt discredit the Democrats’ stimulus plans. Some quick points:
• DeMint praised Rep. John Boehner (R-Ohio), the House GOP leader, for making it known this morning that he would vote against any Democratic stimulus plan no matter what it included. “That’s the kind of leadership we need.”
• For examples of how to fight the stimulus, DeMint harkened back to Republican messaging on the offshore drilling ban, on a bailout for automakers, and on immigration amnesty. “We take our message to the bloggers, and a lot of radio talk shows are getting their information from bloggers. More and more, TV is figuring this out. This is a new way and a right way to drive the political process.”
• The way to stop the stimulus is to “get America angry” about how it doesn’t comport with President Obama’s rhetoric. “This isn’t change we can believe in. This is business as usual.”

Looks like the Republicans can't learn new tricks. Same old, scorched earth, take no prisoners, political hardball targeted at gaining advantage for themselves, the public be damned.

It is the same old stuff out of those stuffy, snarly Republicans. What would they rather do? Give Haliburton another contract and themselves a pay raise. That will stimulate the economy your greedy, nasty, excuse for human beings.

When Clinton got his tax increases passed in 1993, he did so without a single Republican vote. That is what we expect now, with this boondoggle of a 'stimulus' package. Give the Dems no cover when it fails miserably, as it will. Vote NO! on this boondoggle of a bill.

The Republicans and Democrats are one in the same! Blaming eachother for eachothers mistakes! What we need here is a true conservative movement! The Democrats always mention Haliburton, and the Democrats keep on mentioning how they INHERITED this fine mess! Truth is if the democrats are so worried about what they inherited? Then why didnt they do anything to stop it????? Hit a nerve! I thought so! If the Republicans were so worried about Obama's Communist ways? Then why didnt they bring out his partnerships with Ayers and How he got to really go to Harvard law school, Just look at who supported that one! But no they were to worried about Obama's Patriotism, by not having an American Flag Lapel pin! They are all in it for the same common goal! Corruption and Greed!!!!

Just waiting for Obama to give up this silly bipartisan BS. The Republicans are only out to obstruct. There is no point in giving them concessions in the stimulus bill or on anything else. Republican ideology was soundly defeated and consigned to the dustbin of history in November. They have no new ideas. If you ask them how best to, say, help NASA fly to Mars, their response would be “cut taxes.” Obama should just say “I tried, they obstructed, this is war.” He needs a couple votes in the Senate, which can't be too hard to find, and screw the rest. If the stimulus fails it'll be because there are too many tax cuts in it. Those dollars won't be spend on anything productive. They'll be saved, and the economy will continue its downward trajectory. More poor people to fight future Republican wars.

DeMint asking the bloggers help with understanding the contents of the Stimulus Bill is pure genius.
Isn't it time people read it that have some sort of faculties still functioning.
