If you're afraid of them, *you* are the one who is soft. What do you think they are, superhuman mutants? Do you think KSM needs to be held in a clear plastic metal-free prison cell like Magneto?

They're just thugs. We already have terrorists in our prisons. And drug lords, whose power base is a lot closer to the US than Al Qaeda's, and whose followers have a much easier time operating in the US.

Of course Torture does not work. Persons in pain and in great fear will say anything. Torture has been used for centuries to get confessions desired by the ruling authority that they could use politically.
Our forefathers who wrote the Constitution grew up aware of a tradition of torture by British authorities.
They specifically forbid all torture. We should understand their wisdom in this as in other parts of the Constitution.
