The meeting to vote on whether to confirm Eric Holder as attorney general, which was supposed to be held this morning, has been postponed. Sen. Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.) has not set a new date yet.

As we said last week, the Senate Judiciary Committee is likely to support Holder’s nomination, particularly with both Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) and Sen. Mel Martinez (R-Fl.) vocally supporting him.

Until then, Mark Filip — the former deputy attorney general and now acting attorney general — will oversee the Justice Department.

Update: according to a committee spokeswoman, the vote has been postponed because of a scheduling conflict with a prayer service being held at the National Cathedral.

I assume you mean Mel Martinez, right? Menendez is a senator from New Jersey.
