America is burdened with debt. Foreclosures were 79% higher in 2007 than the preceding year. Bush is projecting a near record $400 billion dollar budget deficit for fiscal 2008 and the government is going to give people $500 to spend immediately in order to stimulate the economy. Intelligent politicians, with a straight face, call this a "reasoned, bi-partisan supported solution." Meanwhile, $190 BILLION dollars is being spent in the Afghanistan/Iraq occupations this year- almost half of the entire budget deficit.

It's engaging in the theater of the absurd to even consider these measures-with or without caps- as a serious and comprehensive solution to the economic woes this spend-crazy, war crippled country faces. Almost as ridiculous as the completely predictable republican calls for still MORE tax cuts for the wealthiest in order to "stimulate" the economy. Bush helpfully weighs in that the massive tax cuts given to the wealthiest should become permanent-they're good for the economy. "The fundamentals are strong," Bush said.

Both sides of the aisle not only show little to no fiscal restraint, they are intellectually bankrupt as well. It's time somebody pointed out the emperor's not wearing any clothes. He had to hock them years ago.
