[...] It’s always better to cut taxes than to increase government spending because taxpayers should decide how to spend their money? Krugman notes that a large percentage of any tax cut would be saved so spending on things like infrastructure will get more bang for the bucks. Increased tax revenue and increased spending in the private sector by the people with those created jobs will amplify the results. As an aside, the last tax cut Bush gave, when all of us got $600 or more in a check only created an infinitesimal ripple in the economy. [...]

Congress has graduated!!! Its finally discovered its job.

Instead of being a Bush rubber stamp where the middle class, the poor, the lives of our youth, the nation's reputation, the Constitution and the economy all were allowed to be savaged or destroyed, Congress is getting some backbone.

Its going to stop the President Elect from solving anything.

Barak needs to use the Bully Pulpit. I wonder if he has the guts.Shox Electric
Shox TR

Wot!!! Congress is awake??? Are they going to actually read a bill after passing the Patriot Act and every other destructive, warmongering, deregulation bill for the last 8 years?

Congress reminds me of a man and his wife that get in a wreck with a big truck driver. The man is Mr. Mild Reasonable, and then later yells at the wife and abuses her.

I bet the Republican Congressmen are screaming with joy. All they have to do is sit back and watch the Dems self destruct.

Tax cuts to businesses. Giving corporations special interest breaks.

Tax cuts while having the biggest deficit EVER.

B.O knows nothing on how to run an economy. Kerry has this one right hands down. Should have voted him in instead of Obama.

I personally hope this plan is just the beginning. Like I said on my blog, I'm not tickled to death about the tax cuts, but Obama did promise tax cuts on the campaign trail and this bill does that and then some. I think the real economic stimulus part of the plan (the non-tax cut part) is too small and too vague as to where the money is going to be "invested."

By leaving it to Congress to fill in the details, Obama misses a huge opportunity to mandate economic spending that will greatly alleviate the downsizing economy. Congress has absolutely no track record of spending restraint or of responsible spending. So why leave it to Congress to enlarge and mandate is beyond me.
