The endorsements have been rushing in for John McCain. Yesterday it was Jeb Bush, Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison, and John Block, secretary of agriculture in the Reagan administration.

Today’s heavyweight is Oliver North, of Iran-Contra fame. North ran for the Senate from Virginia in 1994 and, when he looks at how some conservatives are treating McCain, he sees the same kind of snub he got from the party establishment back then.

Writing in today’s Washington Times, North explains that neither John McCain nor anyone in his campaign asked him to weigh in with a column — though the McCain camp did send it around once it was written. North goes on:

But I cannot sit silently while my fellow conservatives do to John McCain what GOP "moderates" did to me.

I wonder if that will change any minds.
