Noting that George Bush Sr. pardoned the Iran-Contra clan on Christmas eve of 1992, Democrats.com is warning that his son could do something very similar Wednesday: pardon Dick Cheney and the rest of the administration officials who authorized and encouraged the torture and humiliation of “war on terror” detainees.
Cheney last week even admitted he personally approved waterboarding — i.e., torture — setting the stage for President Bush to issue a pardon, insisting that in the process he’d saved American lives.
Cheney must know that claim rings hollow: even the recent bipartisan Senate Armed Services Committee Report found just the opposite, concluding that the administration’s interrogation techniques “damaged our ability to collect accurate intelligence that could save lives, strengthened the hand of our enemies, and compromised our moral authority.”
Still, it was a convenient public excuse offered up to give Bush cover for issuing a pardon, not only to Cheney but to everyone involved in approving torture and other illegal interrogation methods.
Some Democrats, at least, are trying to prevent that.
On November 20, Rep. Jerrold Nadler introduced H.R. 1531 to urge Bush not to pardon himself or his co-conspirators in war crimes. The bill now has 9 co-sponsors.
Democrats.com is collecting signatures to support the bill, and circulating a petition to support another bill, sponsored by Rep. Jerrold Nadler, Sen. Carl Levin, and VP-elect Joe Biden – urging Eric Holder, as the future Attorney General, to open an investigation.

Theyb wern't tortured enough they should have been in a vice and squezzed until their juices flowed or they told every thing get off it you binch of stupid liberals they are out to kill us one and all and you want to give them pacifiers????????????

I hope and pray that Biden and his fellow Dem. can get that petition up and running. I believe that Chaney, Bush and all their cronies should be held responsible for ALL their wrong doings. We would be put in jail and the key thrown away. I believe we have some great people that is going to represents us. I am sohappy we have all types in the Goverment to reach out and work for the good of our nation and natons all over the world. But PLEASE do something to make them (Bush/ Cheney) pay for all the wrongs they have done in past 8 yrs.

This is for you Walt. Don't go around calling us stupid Liberals. If it wasn't for the lies told, we would NOT be there today. It WAS NOT the Iraq's who hit the World trade Center. When are you going to own up to this. their is more proof then you will ever need . Talk about Stupid, that you are. All we want is to try to reverse the damage Bush/ Cheney done to our country and others. Geet your pacifer and go to the corner where you belong.Very childish you are.!!!!!
