Pentagon Lauds U.N. Mandate to Fight Pirates

I’m already sick of the arrrrr-pirates-of-Somalia jokes, but as long as we’re talking about piracy, it seemed worth noting that the Pentagon gave the thumbs-up to the United Nations’ approval of military measures to combat piracy in the Arabian sea:

“We welcome the passing of the resolution,” Pentagon spokesman Bryan Whitman said today. “We will continue to work with our allies and partners to address this troublesome problem.”

Whitman said the Defense Department is committed to safe and secure international waterways, adding that shipping companies should take practical and prudent measures to protect their vessel.

Also significant is that the commander of the U.S. Fifth Fleet — the Naval force patrolling the region — leveled with reporters last week about the likely costs of military actions. “If you are going to do kinetic strikes into the pirate camps, the positive ID and the collateral damage cannot be overestimated,” Vice Adm. William E. Gortney said, in an admirable (sorry) display of candor.

This the worst resolution ever passed to UN. This shows the weekness of international community and it show that UN works for Pig states not suffering peaple. This shows the sign of failture of UN nation, becouse rather than manging failed states and helping suffering population of somlia who hostage of warlords and pirates UN passed a resolution to fight piracy but they forgot that less than some hundreds are pirets and what about the rest poor somalian people how are dying for hungry. who will control the abuse of civilians where is human rights? The indian navy destroyed Thailand ship and they say we sunk pirate boat, this week they captured other boats and they say we capture pirate boats, and they jailed who knows that is true, who know how this peoples condition, all this is just indian navy practice, and the united nation will answer this question one day , becouse under this resolution there is humain rights violation.it is a shame to punsh a whole country becouse of few pirates, this hows the limit of UN .thanks.
