I think it is fine that Ms. Graffy is using current technology to share her work and the work-life of a US diplomat. It will help get more young folks interested in public service. For those who don't get it, there are still official press briefings they can attend. Washington should be doing everything they can to get people involved. Good job Ms. Graffy!

Graffy is finally putting a human face on the normally "official" world of diplomacy. This, to me, is a refreshing and most welcome step in the right direction.

In defense to the charge of oversharing on Twitter: The storyline on the Blue Lagoon started with earlier tweets:

“in Boston now boarding flight to Iceland! forgot gym clothes, forgot bathing suit (possible Blue Lagoon visit).advice: don't pack in 30 min”

Continued with:

“on the "Blue Lagoon Express" it is only light between 11am and 3pm here in Iceland so better make the most of it-sleep later”

Further mitigation includes the fact that going to the Blue Lagoon and smearing silica mud on your face is just the done thing to do when in Iceland. From WashPost Travel section (Iceland Heats Up: Rugged Vistas, Rowdy Night Life? Deal Me In.) by Christina Talcott:

“And no wonder it's popular: The Blue Lagoon is like nothing else I'd ever seen, nearly two square miles of meandering, landscaped pool with rocky coves, wooden bridges crossing inlets and benches for sitting and soaking. People float around blissfully with their faces covered in white silica mud ladled from pots around the pool. (It's supposed to work wonders on the complexion.) My favorite moment was standing under the artificial waterfall, which rained hot water on my neck and shoulders for a thoroughly relaxing massage.”
Full article here: http://tr.im/1z26

I guess I could have left out the part about running into the Deputy Chief of Mission but—wot r the chances? I actually thought it was pretty funny--and I did leave out the part about the artificial waterfall massage! Forgiven??
