Faiz Shakir at ThinkProgress has a screencapture from CNN’s presentation of United Nations Ambassador-designate Susan Rice at the Obama national-security team rollout this morning.
Rice’s inadvertent expression in this picture says it all. Needless to say, there is no State Dept. post for “African-American Affairs” — it’s just that Rice is African-American. Rice served as the former assistant secretary for African affairs. I’m just going to go out on a limb and guess that a white person designed this graphic.

I am guessing some careless web developer cut and pasted some boiler plate biographical content from some word doc or other and thinking this assignment was done. It sometimes helps to think about things like this from the point of view of carelessness and not necessarily some kind racial overtones. I speak about this from 28 years of being a sometimes careless deadline driven boss screaming threats software developer.
