Brennan = Jack Bauer is so laughable it's tragic. The only thing Greenwald got right was proving he could read other blogs! Brennan advocates public dialog on torture and what our response to things like people blowing up buildings in the United States should be. In case you missed it over 3,000 people died on 9/11. I kinda think that prick at Gitmo who masterminded the attack has some information we would like to have. Oh that's right maybe if we just ask him politely he will tell us. I think he should be rendered to NEW YORK CITY and let the people decide what constitutes torture. Taking it out on Brennan is wrongheaded.

He wasn't an advocate of torture? Brennan advocated for extraordinary rendition, which for the last 7 years has been a vehicle for torture.

Your reporting on this is unfair , inaccurate & unimpressive. Whether he was directly & centrally involved in formulating the torture policies--which there's no evidence for--is a separate question from whether he publicly supported and defended them--which he did. He defended renditions to Egypt, and I trust Mayer's characterization of him as a supporter of "enhanced interrogation." One comment criticizing waterboarding--which is NOT the only relevant torture technique, which the CIA apparently already dropped a couple years back, which unlike things like stress positions & hypothermia isn't linked to detainee deaths--does not a torture opponent make. Greenwald has this right; so does Scott Horton. You accuse the psychologists of "implying" that Brennan was an architect of the policies--but, they don't state that. You're usually a lot sharper than this; what's the problem here?
