Gen. Jim Jones is close to getting the job, according to Dave Rogers at Politico. If so, it would be a good choice. With Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton very likely to become secretary of state — I’ll have a big piece on that shortly — it’s important to have a national security adviser with the stature necessary to impose discipline on a war cabinet filled with outsize personages. (See: Rice, Condoleezza.)
Also, Jones would be reflective of two huge Obama priorities. First, Afghanistan. As NATO Commander, Jones ceaselessly lobbied the European allies for greater assistance in the Afghanistan war. Second, energy security. Jones is widely known to be an advocate of alternative energy sources, and, as Politico notes, chairs an energy task force for the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. And of course there’s the good optics of such a well-respected general being Obama’s closest White House aide on foreign policy. (David Ignatius loves Jones!)
One has to ask, though: if Jim Jones becomes national security adviser, will we see Juelz Santana as energy czar?

Disagree, Spencer, in large part for the reason you tout him.
I don't like the idea of a career military man as NSA. I wonder what it says about Obama's mindset and also wonder what sort of message it projects abroad.
Not sure who the last career-military NSA was, if at all in recent times.

I'll be a guest , well it's good to know that we'll have security ! mr jone ( Evelyn y. Murrell , superior consulting and former public official (is joy love the same acs worker that removed my daughter by force before the hearing was over (intern) ………hi hilary former public official of region 10 is the proposal fron congress formulated yet , I don't live at 400 west 148th street n.y. 10031, or 946 east 211 street in the bronx , but i'm by grace still in the bronx! see you all at the arraingment, See you at the ball joy, taneenand janeenand yvettte russell from hcz. , security from hcz are they still working , well where is elizabeth murrell -stewart , the child with ld that got hurt by two teachers ? coincidence , I hope she is not living in anybody yard , but i'll have fbi know that … thank you in advanvcejones….I live at salvation army now !
