Progressive Push

<p>The leaders of several big progressive groups are about to announce a $350 million-plus plan to shape the national political debate.</p>

Calling it &quot;the largest and most expensive mobilization in history,&quot; leaders of the progressive push will unveil their plans Tuesday in Washington at the big Take Back America conference.</p>

Those slated to be on hand include: Robert Borosage of Campaign for America&rsquo;s Future, Karen Ackerman of the AFL-CIO, Page Gardner of Women Voices. Women Vote, Cecilia Munoz of National Council of La Raza, and representatives of MoveOn, Rock the Vote and ACORN.</p>

As TPM’s Election Central <a href="http://tpmelectioncentral.talkingpointsmemo.com/2008/03/liberal_groups_preparing_350_m.php" title="points out" id="kfy0">points out</a>, there is one potential pitfall:</p>

<blockquote>If Barack Obama is the Democratic nominee, he might be put on the spot about this group’s activities versus his own policies against outside groups spending on his behalf.</blockquote>
