Waxman to State: Who Snooped Around Obama’s Records?

Rep. Henry A. Waxman’s (D-Calif.), the chairman of the House oversight committee, just fired off a letter to Condoleezza Rice requesting the State Dept. identify the contract employees who were looked through Barack Obama’s electronic passport records. Waxman wants the secretary of state to name names, but he is more concerned with the three contract employee’s companies.

An irony of this blossoming scandal is that this exactly the kind of case that the State Dept’s Inspector General should be pursuing. But there is no State Dept. inspector general. Erstwhile IG Howard “Cookie” Krongard crumbled after the oversight committee produced evidence that his brother was on Blackwater’s advisory board.

At least nobody can blame the most recent State misadventure on Krongard.
