Some things are just self-evidently awesome. Super Obama World is one of those things.

For political junkies whose first video game system was the original Nintendo, such as myself, mixing politics and video games has never been so delicious. Super Obama World is an incredibly well-produced amalgam of the “Super Mario Bros.” franchise and the 2008 presidential election.

Set in Alaska, the gamer guides President-elect Barack Obama through levels titled “I Can See Russia From My House,” and “For Everything Else, There’s the RNC” — a play on the Mastercard slogan. Obama collects American flags while stomping pigs, presumably representing pork, and lipstick-wearing pit bulls, before facing down Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin.

According to the Website, the creators — a software firm called Zensoft — plan to add levels set in other places throughout Obama’s presidency, including Arizona, Illinois and Washington, D.C.

The McCain campaign made a very minor splash in June when it put a pork-themed version of Atari’s “Space Invaders” on its Website. However, Super Obama World proves that, once again, the left clearly has a leg up on the competition when it comes to adapting technology for its purposes.
