Maybe Congress is beginning to realize that $600 doesn’t go that far after all. In the wake of a sharp rise in unemployment last month, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Cal.) is now calling for quick passage of a second economic stimulus package. No details on what Pelosi is pushing for, but consumer groups have some radical advice: Perhaps the best way to help the unemployed, they suggest, is to extend unemployment benefits.
