Hold On, Didn’t We Already Try That?

<p>The Clinton campaign is very excited about a speech the New York senator is giving Friday in Philadelphia. She is going to unveil "</font><span id="p0vv" style="color: black;"><font size="3" id="e.cb"><font size="2" id="vf5v">an ambitious new anti-crime agenda that would cut the murder rate in big cities in half and put 100,000 new police officers on America’s streets."<br id="x43x" />
<br id="y3cu" />
Sounds great, doesn’t it? And familiar. Putting 100,000 new cops on the streets was a central element of the </font><font size="2" id="w.tt"><a title="1994 crime bill" href="http://www.ncjrs.gov/txtfiles/billfs.txt" id="znfu">1994 crime bill</a>, signed into law by Bill Clinton.</p>

Clinton’s speech will be more of that vast misogynist-wing conspiracy theory. Blah blah and in Philadelphia no less. We all know how ‘misogynist’ Philadelphia is. Clinton can’t get a leg up and it’s the misogynists fault. We ALL know that. Clinton’s predicament can’t be her own fault. Nah! Her voting FOR and continuing support for Bush’s war of terror and the Bush insanity on Iraq COULDN’T POSSIBLY have a thing to do with any of this. Nah, it’s those pesky misogynists! Is Tommy Carcetti misogynist?

Holy cow, she’s turning into Tommy Carcetti, from HBO’s "The Wire"!
Carcetti was elected mayor of Baltimore, having run on an anti-crime platform. Then, once he was mayor, he learned the schools had run up a 55 million dollar deficit.
In the case of the next President, well, the current Administration has specialized in hiding stuff. So the next President is in for a LOT of surprises, I bet, and I’m guessing the one thing it WON’T be is a huge pile of spare money hidden away, just waiting to be deployed.

Thanks, niq77174. I should have made that clear. My main point was that it probably doesn’t belong in the category of bold new ideas.

Well, Bush has zeroed out funding for the COPS program, so in essence it’s a return to the status quo, and it seemed to work.
