Sen. John McCain has slapped Sen. Barack Obama with the dreaded liberal label — "elitist" — after his comments about Pennsylvania blue-collar voters at a private fund-raiser in San Francisco. Just to make sure you heard about it, most major media outlets used the "e" word in the headline. It’s so eye-catching, we did too!

Here’s our second installment of "State of Play," a look at how a top story of the day is playing around the Web and in print:
I do not believe Obama’s remarks will have a negative effect on his candidacy. I do believe that Hillary has ridden this pony so hard that it has turned off the democratic voters. She never knows when to stop. It is time NOW for Obama to answer her latest ad by getting an ad out with his own street interviews. She must be answered each and every time she tries to impact his campaign, and quickly! I love the film of her drinking in the bar. Has everyone noticed that her eyes are crossed as she drinks from the shot glass? This picture should be used in an Obama ad.

People like Galileo were attacked too for pointing out realities that didn’t fall within the scope of contemporary thought. I live in Pittsburgh and know a lot of bitter people. And I don’t know if you haven’t looked at the F-ing mortgage crisis, but things aren’t FINE!
