Comics Celebrate Earth Day

<p>Forty-six popular comic strips printed today <a id="yjyx" href="http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601109&sid=awdfghRMQCNE&refer=home" title="revolve around">revolve around</a> protecting Mother Nature in commemoration of Earth Day. The syndicated cartoonists collaborating on the project were recruited by Hearst Corp.’s King Features, the largest distributor of comic strips. Some of today’s Earth Day comics can be viewed <a id="d1lz" href="http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=photos&sid=awdfghRMQCNE" title="here">here</a>. The only other time a large group of cartoonists coordinated their work around a single theme was for a 9/11 day of reflection. </p>

Don’t forget the most important cartoonist collaboration: when they <a href="http://peanuts.com/comics/peanuts/history/charles_schulz_tribute.html">honored Charles Schulz</a> of <i>Peanuts</i> fame in 2000.
