Time magazine did something sort of clever (and sort of creepy) with its new cover: a face, half Obama, half Clinton, merged into one, over the headline, "There Can Only Be One."
But The New Republic quickly cried foul, pointing to its (far creepier) HillarAck cover image that ran last month:
They totally ripped us off! All the way on down to the cover line, too: "There Can Only Be One" vs. "We Have To Choose One."
To its credit, Time responded by basically admitting it had stolen the idea — but not from TNR. Its source? The NBA, which is using the split-screen approach to hype the playoffs.
