Palin Stays on Script

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. — Gov. Sarah Palin met a boisterous crowd of a few thousand in Hurkamp Park this cold, rainy afternoon.
At first, raindrops were sporadic at the outdoor rally, but by the middle of Palin’s stump speech, rain was steadily falling. I thought she might shift gears and acknowledge the inclement weather, but Palin forged on at the same pace, delivering the same words she had in the morning at Leesburg.
Toward the end of her speech, Palin noted that the best of America isn’t “up there in Washington” (about 30 minutes by car from here) but right here “in the rain!” The crowd cheered.
Palin’s speech didn’t seem intended for the crowd in front of her. Rather, it seemed written for a generic crowd in any part of the country — where the weather was decent.
Palin gives a great speech, if the time and place fit it.

Like your report fits right in with the unbiased journalism over at MSNBC? I attended this rally. Do you think there aren't any small business owners in Fredericksburg? Hurkamp park is surrounded by small businesses! We, those who attended the rally, waited in long lines to see Gov. Palin speak. I'm grateful she forged ahead despite the rain.

Wish I could have there to see Sarah Palin. After Obama's recent appearance at UMC, where tens of thousands of people jammed the campus and surrounding streets, it would be refreshing to attend Palins's speech at Hurkamp Park–less crowded, easier to get up close.
