Cutting Ties With Obama’s Coattails

In my story about the down ballot argument, I mentioned the ads Republicans are running in two special elections that try to hurt Democratic candidates by linking them to Barack Obama — and then reminding voters of Obama’s ties to Rev. Jeremiah Wright.

Thanks to The Page for catching the response from Travis Childers, the Democratic candidate in the special Mississippi House race, who seems pretty eager to distance himself from Obama:

"Sen. Obama hasn’t endorsed my candidacy. I have not been in contact with his campaign nor has he been in contact with mine."

That’s certainly not the kind of coattails Obama is hoping for.
