Et Tu, California?

In California GOP circles, it just keeps getting worse.
Yesterday, news broke that the Sacramento County Republican Party website was encouraging readers to “waterboard Barack Obama” and comparing him to Osama bin Laden.
Today, we move from inappropriate to racist.
The Riverside Press-Enterprise reports that a California Inland Republican women’s group circulated a newsletter with an image of a food stamp featuring Sen. Barack Obama’s head on a donkey’s body and surrounded by fried chicken, watermelon and ribs. See the P-E site for the incriminating image.
Incredibly, group president Diane Fedele denied any racist intent. “It was just food to me,” she claimed. “It didn’t mean anything else.”
Sure. And yelling “kill him” at a rally doesn’t constitute a threat.
On another front, here‘s more evidence that solid-blue California isn’t as reliably liberal as we might think.
UPDATE: Since my post yesterday, the Sacramento GOP took down the rather insulting anti-Obama cartoons from its website. Here’s to progress!

I would like to defend my state, but since our governor is a dimwitted B movie star, and a republican, I can't. I still cannot bring myself to believe that it will go red this year though…

OMg I so should not have laughed at that but my friends and I were just discussing how “terrorist” has become the new code for the 'n word'
