I personally am an unaffiliated voter, but I can't help feeling that party affiliation means next to nothing this year. While a Republican president was in office copious amounts of the private financial sector were nationalized, the budget deficit ballooned to dangerous levels, and there has been an enormous expansion of government. What could possibly go wrong with a Democratic president now? Everything that the Republicans feared they have basically helped bring to a reality (big spenders, big government, big deficit). The Republicans aren't to blame for everything, though. There is plenty of blame to go around.

What to do? The Republican party really needs to get its act together, because while I am in no way supportive of the Republican presidential or vice presidential candidates, I don't want a one party system either. The parties' unfettered agendas could be a real problem, regardless of which party is in power.
