Spencer, your analysis of Webb's book supports my idea that Webb as VP is the best chance that voters have to keep the next administration from extending the military quagmire into Iran.

Webb has both the credentials and the confidence to say NO! when the current administration starts bombing Iranian targets. No one else has the cojones. Readers who are skeptical that this is a real risk may want to read
http://atimes01.atimes.com/atimes/Middle_East/JE28Ak01.html

Obama has been oh-so-cautious about future moves in the Middle East in his presidency. Webb is the only potential VP candidate who can keep an Obama administration from sliding deeper into the quagmire.

i know very little about Webb will now begin my research. I am new here and so have not had a chance to see if this is truly "independent" unbiased or if it leans left or right. to be honest, i have had it up to here with left wing and right wing "news" channels/web sites. it seems totally impossible to obtain any "news" from the mass media that isn't slanted one way or the other. Things like a paper "reporting" that O'Bama disagrees with his Pastors statements, the News report will more than likely report that he disagrees with his RADICAL Pastors INFLAMATORY statement. They seem oblivious. I hope that i find here more true jounalism.

Jim Webb is one of the very few people serving in high office today I trust, especially with matters that involves the military. He shows honor, leadership, and the willingness to let his ideas evolve. The current administration lacks all three, so do most members of congress and the senate..

Those who talk about his remarks from 20 years ago should think about how their stands have changed, If they haven't, maybe they have no ability to improve.

As a Marine (once in, never really out) and a former cop, I judge people (both genders) by how willing I would be to trust them in a tight situation--and how well they live up to the responsibility of being a good citizen. Since my son is currently serving, it is VERY personal to me.

If Webb were on the top of the ticket, I'd already be out helping.

Semper Fi Senator Webb, your actions show you still can walk the walk as well as talk.

PS Over the years I have given both Jim Webb and John McCain contributions. The McCain campaign is now on my junk email list.

If JIm Webb may turn off a few hard core feminist he will turn on many more moderate independents who may be iffy on Barack's lack of national security experience.

Who will the feminist turn to? McCain or Bob Bar?

As bit of a geezer, I've been fascinated by the fantasy-ticket possibilities that have floated around. I think my favorite was Reagan-Ford in '80. This year, I find the Obama-Clinton ticket talk unbelievable. I cannot think of a single scenario in which Clinton would want to be VP or Obama would choose her.

Webb is a great politician whose understanding of war and the prison complex make him special. However, his misogynistic views from years back make him unqualified for VP this year. Particularly in a year in which sexism is such a highly charged issue. He'll have to address and reconcile those statements before any national run.
