Romney goes after Perry’s record on immigration
If he wins the Republican nomination for president, you can count on evolution, climate change, The Texas Miracle and a host of other issues becoming interesting to voters when they think about Rick Perry. For now–chasing only Republican votes–his positions on those issues seem pretty safe. Immigration, though, is dogging him everywhere he goes.
In New Hampshire over the weekend, it was immigration people wanted to talk about. In Florida, on Friday, it was immigration that Mitt Romney wanted to talk about, pointing out to a group of Hispanic Republicans just how much tougher he is than Perry.
He may have been 2,000 miles from the border, but Republican presidential candidate Rick Perry’s immigration record in Texas quickly became the focus in New Hampshire Saturday afternoon.
Speaking to hundreds of Granite State voters at a private reception, the Texas governor was asked whether he supported a fence along the Mexican border.
“No, I don’t support a fence on the border,” he said, while referring to the long border in Texas alone. “The fact is, it’s 1,200 miles from Brownsville to El Paso. Two things: How long you think it would take to build that? And then if you build a 30-foot wall from El Paso to Brownsville, the 35-foot ladder business gets real good.”
Instead, Perry said he supported “strategic fencing” and National Guard troops to prevent illegal immigration and violence from Mexican drug cartels.
That Perry is more lax than Romney on border security is perplexing, considering the illegal immigrant population in Texas is ten times that of Massachusetts. In other words, Perry has seen the problem up close and personally — and presumably would want to address it head-on. But, then, his firsthand witness no doubt has informed his views of what solutions are realistic and achievable. Hence his assessment of a fence to secure the border — often dismissed as an impracticable solution – as “ridiculous”? But what of his support for the Texas version of DREAM and his hints at the advisability of binational health insurance?
Obviously, Perry will have to answer questions about his stances on immigration and any other issue on which Romney can zing him — because Romney won’t let up anytime soon. One poll shows Perry ahead of Romney even in Nevada — the one state that is supposed to be an absolute given for Romney.
Of course, after all is said and done, hitting Perry on immigration may be a lot like hitting McCain on patriotism. Some on the right are already calling Romney’s attack a swing and a miss.
From Van Guard, the Vangaurd of Freedom columnist:
But if the immigration issue is Romney’s choice as Rick Perry’s Achilles Heel, then Rick Perry has got him beat already at this early date, and as long as Rick Perry does not flounder or gaffe his way into oblivion, then Rick Perry will remain the GOP front-runner.
The reason for this should be obvious. Rick Perry’s record on immigration, however it may be spun with regard to the Dream Act, the Border Fence, or the Arizona Immigration Law, positively or negatively, has to be seen in the context of Texas politics. For one thing, Governor Perry has been elected to office how many times?
One can hardly call Texas Republicans “moderate.” I mean, really? I just read a quip by a Perry critic quoting the Governor saying he was in favor of seceding from the Union. It was taken out of context, but the point is, on the one hand they position him as a right wing extremist, and on the other as a “moderate” on immigration.
The question that should be asked is this: ”Which would the Obama campaign prefer as an opponent? Romney or Perry?

It’s a shame that this presidential candidacy becomes an ugly race of competitiveness over political issues. Rest assured it’s going to get worse, as we move towards the ultimate price of the White House. Many people, who go into politics, join the melee for the good of the country and its people. But many who were initially from the private sector, as being an attorney are just there for monetary gain. Originally many go into politics with great expectations, but are soon frozen in paralysis by the inevitable influence of the lobbyists and special interest groups and their own establishment. Shamefully the commitment to the American people falls away, once they enter the brutal world of Washington. That’s when the retinue of lawmakers slips under the spell of grabbing for dollars to survive the money race in campaign finance. Other countries such as the British Islands has a political system, that runs only for a period of three months, whereas in America in the political underground it is an unceasing Straw polls, caucuses, debates and stump speeches.
Our political system has been badly devalued and doesn’t work for the common man or women. In truth the mega-money influences come from the giant corporations, the unions and the endless stream of cash from Pacs lobbyists. Once in years past campaigns was bleeding millions of dollars, the amount expended for this race to the Oval office, will be billions of dollars. This money would be better spent in lowering the debt ceiling, which has just reached 15 Trillion dollars. Already the main contenders are attacking each other on issues that include jobs, the economy and startling as it may seem the incendiary issue of illegal immigration.
The issue of illegal immigration is a very serious issue, which not only affects jobs, but the economy as well. Last year’s appraised the cost of subsidizing a part 20 million or more illegal migrants and immigrants was $113 Billion dollars. This has exposed the federal and State payouts that cover the main expenditures of education, health care and the penal system. This is just a limited assessment by the well known conservative think tank of the “Heritage foundation.” The issue of illegal immigration is boiling over between Governor of Texas Rick Perry and Mitt Romney, who must find middle ground on this ugly situation, that grown in intensity over three decades. Rick Perry has a poor D- grading of on this controversial subject that affects us all, then even Mitt Romney also has a poor showing of D-. Neither presidential politician has shown any intensity in fighting the illegal alien invasion.
Whereas, Rep. Michele Bachmann comes first in all Immigration stances, as does the millions of people that have joined the TEA PARTY. Rick Perry doesn’t support the fence, separating our country from the unceasing invasion of economic illegal aliens from the South. Perry also opposed a standing military presence along the border, as exactly the same as the Democrats and President Obama. Rep. Romney’s speech to the Republican Hispanic National Assembly didn’t mention illegal immigration, but carefully exhibited in his speech “that he was great proponent of legal immigration.” he also said in his speech, “Our country must do a better job of securing its borders and as president, I will. That means completing construction of a high-tech fence and investing in adequate manpower and resources.”
Rick Perry is part of the GOP establishment, a money man of the wealthy elite. We need somebody who understands the American people and the hardship of the recession it’s going through right now. Perry also moved Texas legislator, towards a state Dream Act. Both Rep Michele Bachmann and Rep Herman Cain do, as they have the highest grading on illegal immigration. Last week the bull was in the China shop when the IRS revealed that illegal alien families received a rebate of $4.2 Billion dollars, utilizing fraudulent applications in child rebates with thousands not even having paid any taxes. It’s difficult to comprehend the deep seated fraud that surrounds us, especially where illegal immigration is concerned. Learning more about it and the collusion that springs from both political parties, is significantly heavily disguised by the Liberal press and other media.
Remember that the TEA PARTY is about personal responsibility resizing government, and those agencies such as the redundant Dept of Education returned to the empowerment of the States and local communities. Look to reducing the HUD and the Environmental Protection Agency and dissolve them, or merge with other mismanaged agencies. We must have a balanced budget amendment and look into the Federal Reserve entity, and reduce their influence and additionally return our nation to the gold standard. Our government is bulging with unnecessary agencies, that have nothing better to do than throw out in the public sector, more regulations—specially demoralizing small businesses.
Searching the Internet can be difficult, but by turning to “American Patrol” website, the truth and lies are separated in reports, articles and commentary from reliable sources. You will not find the Liberal Huffington Post in American Patrols strips on political intrigues, specifically aimed at the illegal invasion from abroad. You will not find extremist University Professors relaying to us, that the economy will grow if we coddle those who broke our sovereign laws. Another amnesty as the 1986 Simpson-Mazzoli bill would be devastating, with not just those who are already here, but the millions who will come under the policy of CHAIN MIGRATION. That too became an uncontrollable issue, as eventually we had to support the older family members, as their original sponsors didn’t.
As by Roy Beck stated at the NUMBERSUSA website:
“Let’s not get so caught up in bellyaching about this latest outrage on immigration, and then neglect to see that a solution is at hand in Congress this fall. Under the slogan of “No More Obama’s Uncle Omars,” Speaker of the House Boehner (R-Ohio) should see that H.R. 2164 comes to the House floor for debate, amendments and a vote this month. Then, it should be heard by the Senate. News reports thus far suggest that Uncle Omar in fact has a valid Social Security number that he got long ago perhaps during a short time when he may have been in the country legally. A number of states have admirably passed laws requiring NEW HIRES to be run through E-Verify. These are wonderful first steps that begin to significantly reduce the number of illegal aliens holding jobs in those states.”
H.R. 2164 — at this time is ready for enactment, doing everything that state E-Verify laws performs but also slams shut some rather large gaps, through which many illegal foreigners are able to presently pass. This new bill is the amalgamation of E-Verify and anticipated new strengthened Social Security notification systems, that formulate H.R. 2164 more unbelievably and potent than the current national voluntary E-Verify system or the mandatory E-Verify systems in more than a twelve states.
As an additional deterrent to the act–requiring E-Verify for all new hires, Congressman Lamar Smith’s bill require that the (SSA) Social Security Administration run two systems, that will also seize suspicious employees who possess SS numbers that are conjured-up or don’t match a person’s name, age or were stolen or connected to expired visas.
This will be a grouping of E-Verify and other projected new SS announcement programs, making H.R. 2164 so incredibly more powerful, than the current national voluntary E-Verify system or the compulsory E-Verify systems that is now enacted in more than a dozen states.
Open-borders fanatics hypocritically condemn the E-Verify system because it doesn’t catch ALL illegal aliens and this may be true? However-upgrades on the system will change the circumstances, so with future innovations will improve its capabilities. They are correct that E-Verify program in itself is not nearly enough to take away the jobs magnet. But adding “Secure Communities” on a mandatory basis, can achieve even more muscle to enforcement.
CONGRESS HAS AIDED & ABETTED THE UNCLE OMAR’S FOR 15 YEARS BY REFUSING TO PASS ANY AUTHENTIFICATION LAWS. HERE ARE THREE POINTS TO CONSIDER? 1. I don’t think we would need to much emphasis in E-Verify or Secure Communities, if the federal government issued to every American an official ID card for verification of job hiring, public benefits and especially for voting. Attached to a Immigration law that makes illegal entry—a FELONY.
3. President Obama is to give a speech on Thursday on revitalizing our infrastructure, by repairing bridges and highways? With millions of illegal aliens in construction, through criminal Contractors using cheap labor, is Obama going to enact Rep. Lamar Smith’s bill H.R. 2164? Is the People’s president going to halt this travesty of our laws, by enforcing E-Verify.
“Setting aside all the incompetence (and perhaps more) that caused the federal government to allow Obama Onyango to remain illegally in the country apparently for two decades — despite deportation orders — this case should remind everybody in Congress that as long as the Uncle Omars of the world can so easily obtain payroll jobs (and keep them), our country will be full of absconders, fugitives and other illegal aliens.
Since 1996, Congress has turned down the efforts of now-House Judiciary Chairman Lamar Smith (R-Texas) to pass national mandatory verification systems to take away the illegal wages that draw most illegal aliens to this country — and that enable them to maintain their illegal presence indefinitely”.
We citizens must be most diligent to ensure that the House does not change H.R. 2164 so as to protect the loopholes that people like Uncle Omar have been able to exploit for so long. You can read about the disgusting state of affairs nationwide, by illegal alien drunken drivers using their innocent victims as “road kill.” Many have escaped justice by absconding back across the borders. These are not isolated cases that are widespread, where apologists as Governor Patrick of Massachusetts, still denies that illegal aliens are not at fault.
NOW THE PUSH FOR COMMONSENSE ENFORCEMENT MUST BE BACKED BY THE AMERICAN PEOPLE. THE TEA PARTY WILL BE LEADING THE WAY TO FINALLY CONTAIN THIS OCCUPATION BY ILLEGAL PERSONS FROM FOREIGN COUNTRIES. IMMIGRATION AS IT ONCE WAS DURING THE 19th CENTURY HAS GONE FOR GOOD, REPLACED BY ECONOMIC INVADERS WHO ARE TAKING YOUR MONEY IN ILLEGAL TAXATION. WHERE DOES IT SAY THAT AMERICAN STATES MUST SUBSIDIZE FOREIGN NATIONALS AND THEIR CHILDREN FROM OTHER COUNTRIES?
Make your calls starting taday at every reluctant Senator and House Representative. Tell them you want them to vote for Lamar Smith’s sponsorship of H.R. 2164, The Legal Workforce Act, as each party has its own agenda. The Republican establishment agenda is to crush any law which cuts off their access to cheap labor. The Democrats and its Liberal placement, is to gain millions of new voters–LEGAL or ILLEGAL. Start calling because it might be your job on the line, with an estimated 8 million in jobs right now. American blacks have had had a terrible time locating good jobs, with national unemployment hovering around 10 percent and black males unemployment surging to a staggering 17.6 percent, followed closely by Hispanics at around 13.1%, while illegal aliens seem to have held jobs, with 0ver 8 million still hired. Use your mouse and click on the Judicial Watch website and read the disgusting statistics on corruption in Washington and the State where you live?
