Bachmann renews call to defund Planned Parenthood
Rep. Michele Bachmann renewed her call to defund Planned Parenthood in an article penned for Human Events, a conservative publication, over the weekend. After the last time she made such a plea — in December — she helped Planned Parenthood of Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota raise $3,000 from supporters. Bachmann, along with fellow Republican Reps. John Kline and Chip Cravaack, are cosponsors of a bill recently introduced in the U.S. House to deny federal family planning funds to Planned Parenthood.
In Human Events, Bachmann said that fixing the budget deficit could be done, in part, by defunding Planned Parenthood, but first she repeated the false claim that health care reform would pay for abortions.
“The task immediately at hand is repealing and defunding pro-abortion ‘ObamaCare,’” she wrote. “Last week the House voted 245-189 to repeal, in full, the monstrous health care plan. This action is necessary in the pro-life fight because ‘ObamaCare’ contains a very concerning loophole allowing federal funds to go towards abortion.”
That claim has been repeatedly debunked by fact-checkers, including FactCheck.org and Politifact.
Bachmann continued, “The next big undertaking for Republicans is presenting a budget with billions of dollars worth of funding cuts. One obvious place to dry-up [sic] funding is Planned Parenthood.”
She added, “Not only would defunding Planned Parenthood and affiliated federal grants to abortion facilities at the federal, state and local levels save us $630 million in taxpayer dollars, but its [sic] simply the moral thing to do.”
Bachmann made a similar call to defund the family planning group in December, prompting donors to raise just shy of $3,000 for the local affiliate.
“So far, supporters have contributed nearly $1,400 ‘in honor’ of Bachmann,” wrote the Planned Parenthood Advocate. “Well, the joke is on Bachmann, because a match gift means that Bachmann’s attacks on Planned Parenthood have backfired and she has raised nearly $3K for the Planned Parenthood Action Fund! Thanks, Representative Bachmann!”
A spokesperson for PPMNS said the campaign to raise funds off of Bachmann’s call to defund the organization has ended, and the organization has no immediate plans to institute a new campaign based on Bachmann’s latest call.
The bill Bachmann, Kline and Cravaack cosponsored would halt funding to Planned Parenthood. The Title X Abortion Provider Prohibition Act, introduced on Jan. 7 by Republican Rep. Mike Pence of Indiana, would bar the federal government from providing funds to any entity that performs abortions.

Why is no journalist with an ounce of integrity challenging Bachmann’s factually false rhetoric that the Affordable Care Act of 2010 must be repealed “because ‘ObamaCare’ contains a very concerning loophole allowing federal funds to go towards abortion.”
This has been discredited by FackCheck [ http://factcheck.org/2010/07/taxpayer-funded-abortions-in-high-risk-pools/ ]
which found that federal taxdollars will not be used to fund abortions in cases other than those exceptional cases, just as in the case of Bachmann’s own Federal Employee Health Benefits (FEHB) insurance, where incest, rape or the life of the mother is a factor.
Shame on Bachmann for continuing to spead this lie.

How sad that those who follow and actually believe the lies and distortions of radical extreamist such as this anti american crazy woman screaming fire in a crowded theater are probably not illiterate. Why cant they pick up a book or a real newspaper (nothing with Murdochs ownership or distortions) and see what lies they are subscribing to. Problem is some in their “Numbers” besides being prone to blindly following nonsense some of these people are egged on to showing up at political events armed and dangerous. You have these crazy anti american, working taxpayer family hating lying instigators hoping to have a shootout at some event to satisfy their hatred of politicians who actually represent the working middle class taxpayer and not the billionare Koch brothers who not only want to pay no taxes on their billions but probably want us taxpayers paying our taxes directly to them. This way they could avoid the “middle men” the congressmen and senators they have bought like Boehner, Michelle Bachman, John McInsane, Dick Armey, Kate Hutchinson, Mitch Mcconnell and on and on, and have us mail our taxes directly to them and other billionaires just like them. 2 brothers with their money effectively started , funded, and directed the Tea Party to do their bidding for them. They dont want to provide health insurance to their 10s of thousands of workers, its much cheaper for them to buy of Republican politicians and to fund “The Tea Party” movement to carry out their agenda. They manipulate their “Tea Party” puppets to go after the EPA so they could continue polluting with their Coal Operations just to name the obvious. Stupid Americans are being manipulated by the uber rich to become even richer at the expense of working taxpayer families. Hey why not whatever is left from giving Israel billions, on top of billions in “Foreign Aid” we will give to the super rich. Yeah keep watching FOX NEWS until we have no minimum wage laws, you pay health insurance premiums for years but are dropped the minute you need hospitalization, when the only ones recieving fire and police protection are the mega afflunt neighborhoods (remember New Orleans and Blackwater), and working conditions for American’s (because we could let industry police itself) will return to those at the turn of the last century. Its happening—the Koch brothers and their Tea Party movement have people blaming the unions for the collapse of the Auto Industry. Look out your window is that a Japanese car parked there—well idiot it was you not any union that hurt our auto industry not unions. Keep believing Fox and the Koch brothers your kids will have to move to India to get a job glueing sneakers for $10 a day. Keep believing the Tea Party puppets that want to give everything you own to the Koch Brothers then explain to your kid why he ain’t got nothing, not even a job.
