Atwater seeks input on Feinberg’s methodology

A day after oil spill claims administrator Kenneth Feinberg told Floridians he would be releasing his standards for determining who is eligible for claims, new state Chief Financial Office Jeff Atwater sent him a letter asking to weigh in on those standards as they’re being developed. #

So far, Atwater wrote, “the claims process has been a nightmare to navigate and completely lacks transparency.” #

We have been on the phone with business owners facing eviction that same day, or who could not put food on their families’ tables that night because their bank accounts had dwindled as they patiently waited for their promised claim payments. #

Atwater wrote that he wants to work with Feinberg, and let his office offer ways to improve the process and speed it up. #
