After Being Told Claims Were Expedited, More Waiting
Tuesday, October 19, 2010 at 9:29 am
I’ve talked to quite a few Gulf coast residents who have been waiting weeks to receive compensation for their losses from the oil spill. Here’s one thing that I didn’t include in my story today: Many claimants were told by staff at the Gulf Coast Claims Facility that their claims would be expedited, or “escalated,” only to continue waiting for weeks.
For example, Nicole Bolano, a Gulf coast resident, told me in an email:
I have applied on Aug 24 it went into under review Aug 26 they have escalated my account as of the 30 of Sept and again on Oct 4 I have left messages for the “escalation team” 16 days has passed and still no call no answers I applied under business an am currently living in a foreclosed home and on the verge of losing my office.
